A Cajon is an inconspicuous wooden box that can elicit one surprising rhythms. The sound of the instrument comes with experienced drummers already up close to a drum. When blueprint but not the perfect sound in the foreground, but a simple and easy to follow design was in this case. The Cajon is to be an introduction to a rhythmic soundscape. Once you have realized "tasted blood" one will not be difficult for other versions with more differentiated sound structure to build. simple birch plywood is 6 mm and 3 mm in thickness as the main material. It has been installed, a commercially available 14-inch snare wires, the dimensions of the box amount (H x W x D) 450 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm.

Cutting the individual parts
Cut the plywood boards each with a table saw to the specified extent on. Alternatively, it would also be possible that you are in sheets can cut hardware store.
In order to control the degree of back wall and the front plate, the sides, top and bottom are so folded as they are assembled later. If the size of the plates are not correct, must be reworked.
In the center of the rear wall an approximately 120 mm will be large Kreis penciled (Circle or CD). Pre-drill at one point of the circle and saw the so-called sound hole with a jigsaw or coping saw from. The edges of the sound hole are deburred with sandpaper.

On the back plate on the inside circumferentially strips glued. Make sure that the strips just sit flush with the outer edges of the plywood boards. The sides get on the front and the top and bottom a bar. The upper and lower strips are so far back that the rear wall incl. Strips can be inserted or behind (about 18 mm).
After the glue has dried, are glued sides, base and lid together. It is important that all items are assembled flush. Draw the length of the strips that are glued to the front at the top and bottom of. Cut the strips, and glue firmly these.
The fur (Pos. 4 in the material list) is screwed onto the front (Linsenkopfschraube 3 x 12). Drill (3 mm) for the screws at a distance of approximately 70 mm in front of the holes. The screws in the lower part are tight. The screws above the center must be loose, that is even tighten and then loosen again by one turn.
Snare, rear wall & the finishing touch
Put the drum on the front and screw from behind the snare wires a. Test to see if the Insert rear wall into the body leaves. On the ledges on the rear wall glue is provided and the rear wall
from behind inserted into the body.
Bracing everything with ferrules. Excess glue is removed after drying with a sharp chisel.
Round off the edges with a hand sanding block or a cutter. The surfaces are ground with a random orbit sander. Final Touches P180.
If you Cajon the add color like you can stain or paint them now. Finally, the surface should be sealed at least twice with a lacquer or oil.
