Round children's table with storage space and high chair with clown face

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

This table has just the right height for young children. On the large, round plate is plenty of space to build the first building blocks towers to let cars go back and forth to paint or look at a picture book.

The right seating is a brightly painted children's chair, which is fast with his funny face for favorite piece of furniture.

The base of the table has two flaps for opening. In the "cave" under the table top of the cuddly bear can live or the first skid car parked in his garage.

The two pieces of furniture - Children's table and chair - can be copied with the present instructions. The material list will help when shopping.

build children's table and chair itself

Step 1:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

The construction begins with the marking of the table top and the bottom plate. The subsequent circular cut is made with a jigsaw. To
a curved saw blade should be clamped into the machine. Before cutting the base plate should still cornered condition, the position of the six pillars (side walls) are set with two holes (it's so simple). Is also the base plate cut out, the screw holes are drilled and countersunk for the screw heads from the bottom. With a 15 mm Forstner drill the two holes are now being introduced, are where later the right round bars of the doors sit. To these bars, the doors should be open and close later. The base plate has to be centered exactly on the underside of the tabletop. So that the holes are formed vertically with the right depth (10 mm deep into the table top), a Lux-drilling aid is used best.

Step 2:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

The vertical edges of the six side portions have been rounded off with a router. Now they are individually placed with glue on the previously recorded positions and pressed at right angles with the help of appropriately sized clamps. With a large metal bracket compliance with the right angle can be controlled when tightening the clamps. Subsequently, the side members from below with bolts of the size to be 3.5 x 40 mm and mechanically secured. Screwing going with a cordless screwdriver lighter and faster than by hand. Note, however, that in MDF boards should always be pre-drilled.

Step 3:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

The doorways are cut and edge clean nachgearbeitet.Um the holes for the 15mm rods snugly to drill two sheets are always above the other and joined together with two pins. The holes are thereby drilled so that arise in the part which is to serve as an upper door arch later only 10 mm deep blind holes. Only for the torsion bar must be completely drilled through. The spacer rings that come to the torsion bars later are made of 4 mm plywood first drilled and then cut out.

Step 4:

The items of doors - rods, door arches and spacers
- are put together with glue. In accurately mounting a rectangular MDF panel serves as a "template", If the door at the top and at the ends is flush with the plate and is supported also at the corners, they will be easily installed later.

Step 5:

The base stands. Now only the plate must be glued, aligned and then pressed with force to ensure that the doors above and below the same
have a lot of game. And the supernatant of the tabletop to the supports and the front edges of doorways, which are located on opposite sides must be equal. (This is not the case, it may happen that the door rods from the vertical differ.) The doors are held closed with one magnetic bullet, to be mounted under the table top.

Step 6:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

The table top was painted in our example with colorless parquet lacquer. In order to create a very smooth surface, the surface should be previously treated with an orbital sander.

Step 7:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

In keeping with the table, the high chair is still under construction. The circular section of the base plate must where the back and front supports are to be attached, are previously processed to just created surfaces.
The supports are glued. In addition, the compound having 6 mm wooden dowels is enhanced. The same procedure is with the backrest. Also, the seat surface is at the trailing edge for the connection with the backrest at a width of 100 mm straightened (see drawing). To further enhance the stability of the supporting triangles are from 19 mm thick MDF material, which are glued to the front supports and to the backrest. After the gluing of the seat surface, the protruding dowel ends have to be cut off with a fine toothed saw and sanded clean. After that, the chair can be painted and head are designed.

Step 8:

Building instructions: children tables and high chairs

The color design is of course up to your own taste. In our example, some areas were provided with hardwood floor finishing, and so the
emphasizes natural grain of the wood. The used seal coating of acryl-based Alpina the brushes and rollers used can be subsequently washed with water.
